ART DECO: THE ART OF GEOMETRY

Art Deco jewellery flourished mainly during the 1920s and 1930s and represented a genuine revolution in jewelry design. In contrast to the curved lines, floral motifs, and nature-inspired forms that had characterized Art Nouveau, the new style embraced geometry, symmetry, and a much more modern aesthetic. The result was sophisticated, easily recognizable jewellery that, almost a century later, continues to influence contemporary jewellery.

Art Deco was born in Paris in the years following the First World War, at a time marked by profound social, cultural, and technological changes. The fascination with modernity, new cities, architecture, and technological progress quickly found its reflection in the world of jewellery.

One of the main characteristics of Art Deco jewelry is the predominance of geometry. Straight lines, rectangles, squares, circles, triangles, and stepped forms were arranged in precise, generally symmetrical compositions. This pursuit of balance and order created pieces with great visual impact, far removed from the organic, sinuous forms that had dominated jewellery during the preceding period.

In our collection, this aesthetic is especially reflected in the earrings and ring from the Azucena collection, two pieces of jewellery inspired by the visual language of this movement and reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective. A combination of history, design, and sophistication that explains why, one hundred years later, Art Deco continues to be a source of inspiration for creating timeless jewellery.
