Medusa: the protective eye

There are symbols that transcend centuries without losing their power. The protective eye is one of them. Present in Mediterranean cultures since Antiquity, it has been used as an amulet to protect the wearer from bad energies, envy, and the evil eye.

In Greek mythology, Medusa was one of the three Gorgons. Her gaze was so powerful that anyone who looked at her was petrified. Although her story has been interpreted in many ways over time, her image ultimately became a symbol of protection. Since ancient Greece, Medusa’s face was placed on shields, temples, doors, or coins with a very specific purpose: to keep negative forces away.

Over the centuries, that protective power evolved to be associated with the eye as one of the most representative amulets of the Mediterranean. A symbol that remains present today and continues to be passed down as a wish for protection, intuition, and good fortune.

The Medusa ring and charm take that ancient symbol as their starting point to transform it into a delicate piece full of meaning. Both designs recreate an open eye. Their eyelids, set with zirconia stones, capture the light and enhance the depth of the design, while a blue crystal in the center represents the protective gaze that has accompanied Mediterranean cultures for centuries. In the case of the Medusa charm, a delicate crystal tear located at the tear duct adds movement and makes the piece an even more expressive and special interpretation.

Beyond its design, Medusa represents the idea of always carrying with you a symbol of protection and a contemporary tribute to one of the oldest and most universal amulets of the Mediterranean.
