Journey into Motherhood: A new creative dimension
By María Borrero, Creative Director of Alhaja
Motherhood is like stepping into a new dimension—where body and mind begin to explore unfamiliar terrain. It’s a space in flux, suspended between who you were and who you’re becoming. An intimate stage where everything shifts, even when it seems like nothing is happening. Beauty changes, too: it becomes softer, more sensory, more alive.
It feels like a secret door opens into a more intuitive, more visceral realm. A place where time slows down, the senses sharpen, and everything—shapes, words, gestures—takes on a different texture. As if the world were slightly out of focus, yet somehow more vivid.
Pregnacy isn’t a pause; it’s a quiet revolution. While a new life is taking shape, so is a new version of yourself. And with it, a new way of seeing, feeling, and creating.
At this stage, I create from a deeper place. There’s an energy that pushes from within, one that flows into everything I do—the shapes, the materials, the silences between ideas.
I don’t yet know what motherhood will be like, but I do know this transition has already changed me. And that shift lives in the pieces I design. Because motherhood doesn’t just give life—it gives form.
