This pendant originated in ancient Rome, where gods were part of daily life and superstition coexisted with reason, giving birth to a symbol full of power: the fascinus. A small winged phallus considered deeply sacred and charged with vital energy. Its name comes from the Latin verb fascinare, which means “to enchant” or “to protect with magic.” The fascinus was literally what kept evil away with its charming force.
In a culture that understood sex as a positive source of life, pleasure, and continuity, the phallus represented much more than desire: it was fertility, protection, and joy. By giving it wings, the Romans elevated it even further: as a divine symbol, it could fly, ascend, and connect the physical world with the sacred.
